Q:I really need help with this. I'm just starting off and I really need some guidance. I'm 172 and 5'5. I started off at 180 at my highest weight. Is there anything you could do to steer me in the proper direction? I'm a little lost and I lose motivation quickly. I really want this for myself. Oh, I have a Planet Fitness membership.
First off, CONGRATS! By deciding to start youre on your way :)

FOR WORKOUTS:
Ill highlight my beginners guide to weight training and How to Design Your Weekly Workout Plan.
FOR HEALTHY EATING:
My 30 Day Clean Eating Challenge changed how I view food. Check it out for how to eat right and how not to get bored of healthy food (THERE IS MORE TO HEALTH THAN SALADS! also salads can be cool. Salads are like the dads of health food. everyone thinks theyre lame and they totally can be but salads can also be cool and help you out. you just gotta give em a chance.)
OVERALL FOR BEGINNERS:
Make sure to do things gradually. Thats how youll stick with them. A sudden, 7-workouts-per-week exercise plan wont work. Try just 3-4 days for a few weeks, and build up.
Same with HIIT. You dont start doing sprint intervals the first day you hit the track.
Pace yourself and stick with it. Be positive and you can do anything :)

Q:Hi, how can I eat 'clean'
Hey there! Check out all my resources under the 30 Day Clean Eating Challenge, which is the ultimate resource for beginners to clean eating.
More specifically, I have a post called What Is Clean Eating? that might help you out!
In a nutshell, clean eating is:
- No refined sugar (agave, honey, and other replacements in moderation instead)
- Whole, raw foods, fresh and organic fruits and veggies preferred
- Try and eliminate or at least limit foods you buy in a package or box
Good luck!
Now that Turkey Day is over and your holiday shopping is underway, revisit your goals with my 7-day clean up! Clean-eating recipes workout ideas, and a seven day plan to help you get back on track to reach your goals.

Good luck and hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving!
Q:Holy shit man I've been following you since freshman year and I still love your blog. It's weird because your blog has been there since the beginning of my journey! Since following you I've lost 40 lbs, gained about 5 lbs of muscle, lost those 5 lbs (junior year of high school is somebody's sick idea of a joke), and now I'm working to gain them back! Thanks for your blog! I just wanted to say that :)
oh my god wow thanks for sending me this! I confess I havent been posting much (Im that person who always says yes to more responsibilities on top of classes) but CONGRATS on all that progress!! Setbacks happen to the best of us but you can do it, best of luck! :)
#FBF to my second half marathon nearly a year ago <3 I did something that scared me and Im still pushing boundaries every day, trying to be better. Im not perfect but its about keeping at it.
I hope all of you have the support system and love to achieve all your goals! The holiday season is a time for family, returning to whats important, and also reminding yourself of how far youve come and where you still want to go.
Much love to you all!

Q:Hi, I'm a new fitblr on tumblr, I thought I'd ask for some advice... I'm having trouble with willpower and eating clean. It's really frustrating me; I'm able to exercise but I know the 80/20 rule is key and I won't see proper results without it. Potato chips are killer, it's the one thing I can't seem to cut out or eat less of/moderate. And it's hard because my whole family eats them all the time, they're always in the pantry. Any tips on gaining willpower?! It's hard not to be mad at myself!
The 80/20 rule is oh-so-simple but yet so challenging.
Know that its challenging to always meet the standards you set for yourself, so dont give yourself too hard of a time for it.
Saying that, there are still ways you can improve your willpower.
1. Take the challenge. Eat clean for a week or even a month. Take my Clean Eating Challenge. Tell everyone youre doing it. Blog about it. Hold yourself responsible and go public with your goals so others can, too. That way reaching for the chips will have bigger consequences. After the 30 days your tastes may have changed and potato chips might not be something you crave anymore as your body adapts to healthier foods.
2. Ask your family to buy healthier brands, not buy chips at all, or hide the chips from you. Not always as effective depending on your familys views on health and food, but could help if you explain to them whats up.
3. Fill up on clean, healthy fruits and veggies. When youre hungry or craving chips, instead go and make a salad or throw together an acai bowl.
Good luck!
#ThrowbackThursday to my Clean Eating Challenge. I still use the recipes and skills I learned and wrote about in this blog series in my everyday life. Clean eating takes a long time to learn, and even longer to put into practice, but its worth it.
Q:This blog is so so helpful. Thank you for being here!
Thanks for your kind message! I like being here. The people are nice and theres lots of pretty pictures.
Just dont go into the dog park.
From class to gym mode in five minutes flat.
I did power yoga for the first time this week, which is a change from my usual vinyasa. Im going to give mat pilates a try on Friday. Im also improving my running times slowly and steadily. Midterms are making me need to hit the gym more often to stay sane.
How was your workout today?
