Awesome Burgers

Being a grilling guru (!), and a food snob in general, I shunned any frozen, processed burger product. I tried these frozen burgers on a whim. Was I ever surprised. They are the juiciest, tastiest frozen burgers I have ever had. We tried 3 of the styles, Vidalia Onion, Bacon Cheddar, and my favorite, Jalapeno. My wife said the Bacon Cheddar was fantastic, good enough for her to eat two. (She never eats two!) The Jalapeno had a respectable bite to it, (all right, they were actually hot!) and you could smell the jalapenos in the smoke. Rarely have I found any commercial product where the "jalapeno", or "hot" ever lives up to it's name. They are 80/20% lean, so they grill juicy, without being too fatty. Shrinkage is normal, so they are not full of water. At $6.00 a box ($3.00/ lb) the price is an outstanding value. I will definitely stock up on these delicious, convenient burgers. With the kids out of school, they will make a good lunch for them, as they cook up very well in a pan, too.

These were horrible!

I purchased these burgers ( Bleu Cheese Variety) for the 4th of July, and cooked them on a Weber propane grill. I was a little skeptical when I opened the package. They were a beige / grey color and had to be cut apart with a knife, as there was no paper separating the patties and they were frozen together. Once cooked, they were somewhat the color of a veggie burger. I served them on a nice bun, with red onion slices, vine ripened tomato and sliced avocado. NOTHING prepared me for the dreadful taste that was about to grace my pallet. It was like nothing I had ever eaten before.
These burgers were so bad, that it is really difficult to describe the taste. The SMELL of Limburger cheese is less offensive than the TASTE of these burgers.
My roommate suggested that feed the rest of them to the dogs, the next morning, but I said that it might make them sick. I honestly don't understand why these are still being sold, much less how anyone could give them a good review.

Not fit for human consumption!!!

I'm a single male in a world where time and convenience is a factor of everyday life. So while shopping at my local wal mart the other day i see these Fire Side pre-packaged black angus burgers (the sweet vidalia onion to be exact) and decided I would try them. Well I will tell you that is not one of my smartest shopping decisions I've made. Turns out when I went to cook them on the stove the meat was just horrific. First when I went to take a bite grease exploded from the patty, after draining all the rest of the grease I continued to taste the burger it was awful. The taste is like the cheapest meat I've ever tried and was as if it was loaded with fillers. The texture was soggy and soy like, even though they were cooked fully. I feel Wal-Mart should take this product off their shelves. Furthermore in my opinion if someone would want to purchase a pre-packaged frozen hamburger patty I would suggest NOT buying the Fire Side brand.

Great Burgers

I see one common thing among the "bad reviews"...nobody reads directions. Cook from frozen! These burgers are great, all flavors, however the jalapeno is a little hot.

Tasty Burger
,08/30/2011
My family and I have tried a variety of these burgers and have enjoyed all of them. Should be grilled frozen. In fact everyone I know who has eaten them has loved them. Jalepeno is a bit hot. Just had a family get together and BBQ'd 3 boxes of these, so I will be off to buy more. I always keep a few boxes in the freezer. Well worth the price. ...It's kinda of strange that there are so many bad reviews.

Best frozen burgers I've had

First of all, I'm no food critic. But when I noticed most reviews are either 1 star or 5, I figured I'd throw in my two cents since I love these things. I've fried up a lot of frozen patties in my day but none of them stand up to these. I actually look forward to standing there like an idiot trying to decide which flavor to get. From bacon and cheddar to jalapeno to blue cheese, I haven't found a flavor yet that I don't love.
I noticed a lot of the reviews said that the burgers were thawed and then cooked. I just throw them on a pan frozen and cover them and let them cook on one side while covered. I flip them and let them cook for a bit uncovered on the other side and they are some of the juiciest burgers I've ever had. Out of the box they are roughly twice as thick as some other frozen patties I've used and don't shrink down too much. I buy the bigger buns and they fit perfectly.
With all the flavors it's fun getting creative with them and seeing what kind of crazy new burgers I can come up with. One night I decided to go nuts and fried up a jalapeno burger, toasted a bun and slapped on some chipotle mayo, sweet chili sauce, avocado and shoestring onions and I couldn't believe I was eating a cheap burger from Walmart. I have gotten several dozen boxes of these burgers in the last couple years and still haven't had a bad experience with any of them.

To be honest I didn't really expect for this burger to have any flavor at all. I thought I'd have to doctor it up with everything in my cabinet before I'd really be able to enjoy it. Man was I wrong, I threw it on the Forman Grill one night just to see what it would be like. OMG it was flavorful, juicy and actually looked like a quality piece of beef. I would most defiantly buy again. Try them you'll love them!

AWFUL BURGERS
,08/30/2010
Shamokin, PA
I bought these patties one time to try them after hearing how good angus burgers are. My family loved the taste of them (we had the seasoned flavored) and we grilled them a standard propane outdoor grill. Because we enjoyed these patties so much we decided to buy 2 more boxes of the same flavor. the first box of the 2 that we bought we grilled on a george foreman indoor/outdoor grill, which is made to remove most of the grease from the patties. but when we bit into them there was a "pocket" in the middle which gathered all the grease from cooking. the grease literally just poured out of the patties, and ruined the taste of them, plus made the buns soggy. we ended up just throwing all the patties that were grilled away. thinking it was just a "bad box" we decided to try the other box which we grilled on the same outdoor propane grill as the very first box. we were very disappointed to find that these too had a "pocket" in them and gathered the grease once again. we could literally hold the patties up and squeeze them after being fully cooked, and the grease would just run out of them. the grease ran out as if a faucet had been turned on. very disappointed and will NOT be buying these patties again.

With a piece of meat that has this much fat, it should have more taste. Very manufactured looking in the plastic package. They grilled up fine and looked good and juicy, just very tasteless. You need to pour ketchup on every square inch to eat them. Might as well just get your own 80/20 ground beef and make your own

The taste is just disgusting!
,07/01/2011
By Crapola1
I'm glad to hear that others found these "burgers" to be disgusting too. Cooked three on the grill one evening and they were horrible. The next week I cooked the other three just to get rid of them. My teenagers said to me "Dad, why do the burgers taste funny?" My answer was that I made a mistake in buying them. I wanted to try something new. What a mistake! There are hard things in the meet like gristle or something and the taste is just disgusting!

Worst Burger Ever

My girlfriend purchased these burgers, we ate two the first night and thought they were terrible, she said it must be because she forgot to season them. We tried them again with some burger seasoning and they were worse, tasted like old grease, the meat is very strange and even has a rotten smell. We ended up just throwing out the rest of the package. I would not recommend these at all, in fact they may be the worse burgers I have ever tasted.

We tried these burgers for the first time about a month ago. We had the vidalia onion style. These burgers are intended to be cooked FROZEN! Do not thaw! We cooked these burgers down and loved them. We grill a lot so it is nice to be able to grab something quick to throw on. We have bought several boxes and have enjoyed them. Until today. We decided to try some new varieties and branch out a little. We tried both the mushroom swiss burgers and the bacon cheddar. The mushroom swiss was very good as well. The bacon cheddar was HORRIBLE!! Wow! Had the feeling I should have licked my feet to get the taste out of my mouth. My husband, who is in the Army and will eat almost anything couldn't eat the bacon cheddar burger. We are looking forward to trying some other varieties, but wow....no bacon cheddar!!!

I cooked these on a nice hot wood fired grill for Father's Day today-- we threw them all away! My husband's special celebration is ruined. I hesitate to even feed it to my dog. If these are actually 100% beef as they claim then there is something terribly wrong with them---but I suspect that it is just 80% filler that is being marketed as beef. They were not brown--they were more like a light turkey burger in color --and tasteless.

Chose these over another well known frozen burger brand, thought I'd "try" them. Terrible mistake. The meat is gray after cooking, although half of the meat fell apart on the grill and the cat enjoyed a tasty snack. Of course cats aren't quite as picky as humans. I am very disappointed in this burger! There was so much grease from the fat in the burger, that the grill almost set my house on fire.

We picked up these burgers thinking that they are suppose to be top quality. To our surprise they tasted so horrible that we ended up throwing them away after two bites. I would not even recommend these burgers for dog food. I have never been so disappointed in a product as I was with this one. I intend to tell all my friends to pass the word "Do not buy these burgers".

Walmart has gotten rid of me as a customer slowly over the years. The frozen black angus burgers were the only thing that kept bringing me back. I loved these burgers for all my hamburger needs. But like everything else, Walmart has cheapened them into the useless category. They used to be tasty and juicy.
The last 2 times I purchased these, the burgers boiled due to all the water in them. I don't want boiled burgers. The taste is gone.
You have taken away the last good thing I continued to come to the store for, so good bye. I don't need you anymore.
